
Dr. Kyle Covington, PT, DPT, PhD
APTA President Kyle Covington is an associate professor and director of educational innovation and post-professional education for Duke University's Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, including the Faculty Development Residency accredited by the American Board of Physical Therapy Residencies and Fellowships.
Covington is a board-certified clinical specialist in neurologic physical therapy. He earned a Bachelor of Science in health and exercise science from Wake Forest University, a doctor of physical therapy degree from Duke University, and a PhD in educational research and policy analysis in adult education from North Carolina State University. He has extensive experience in clinical and didactic curriculum development, with a focus on integrated collaborative learning models. His research explores clinical learning partnerships and best practices in educational assessment in health professions. Covington previously served as president of APTA North Carolina (2016-2019) and has been a delegate to APTA’s House of Delegates for 12 terms.
